Guinea fowl project will alleviate poverty - SADA Boss

The Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) is challenging Parliament to investigate how the Authority spent monies allotted it for afforestation and guinea fowl projects.

The Minority in Parliament on Monday wondered why 47.4 million Ghana cedis was allocated for the two projects but have been ignored in the 2013 budget.

SADA boss Alhaji Gilbert Iddi in an interview with XYZ News said there are documents to show that over 32 million cedis was spent on planting trees.

On the issue of the guinea fowl project, Mr. Iddi said SADA only acquired a 40 percent share in a guinea fowl-producing company.

According to him, producing guinea fowls in larger quantities would address the issues of alleviating poverty in the SADA zones.

“Guinea fowl production is an income earning activity in most areas in the SADA zone particularly for women,” Mr. Iddi said.
