NPP must call Sir John to order - Group

President of a group calling itself the Christians Friends of Democracy, Reverend Samuel Adjei, has urged the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to call their General Secretary, Mr Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie who is popularly known as Sir John to order.

He said the greatest threat to the future of the party currently was not their political opponents but the utterances and conduct of Mr Owusu Afriyie.

Rev. Adjei, who was speaking with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Tuesday said, the utterances of Mr Owusu Afriyie could make the party to lose votes from floating voters and level headed middle class persons in the country if he should continue with such behaviour.

He said a General Secretary of the leading opposition party in the country needed to demonstrate a sense of patriotism, nationalism, and be providing alternative solutions to the challenges of the country.

The group said there were challenges all over the world and people are more interested in their solutions and not complaints.

He said the largest party in opposition which could take over governance, needed to demonstrate to the electorate that they were on top of the challenges facing the country by providing solutions to existing challenges.

The General Secretary of a party ready for power, he added, needed to demonstrate a sense of purpose and leadership to win the hearts of the electorate and not to use derogatory language on the airwaves to push people away from the party.

Rev. Adjei, therefore, called on the leadership of the NPP to take a careful look at the utterances of the party on air.
