Update: Dr. Bawumia discharged after near-fatal accident

The 2012 Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has been discharged from hospital following Sunday’s accident.

Dr. Bawumia’s convoy was involved in an accident whilst returning from the Bole Wura’s funeral in Bole in the Northern Region.

Chairman of the NPP Jake Obetsebi Lamptey who was travelling with Dr Bawumah in an interview with XYZ News said he sustained minor injuries.

Meanwhile, a statement issued by the party shortly after the incident, said Dr. Bawumia “was travelling to the Ashanti Region when two of the tyres of the vehicle he was travelling in, exploded 15 minutes into the journey. The vehicle flipped over, veered off the road, rolling over a few times.”

The statement added that the 2012 Vice Presidential candidate was flown to Accra for medical treatment and doctors say “his condition is good”.
