There is no tension in Bawku - Police

The Police in Bawku have denied reports of mounting tension in the area following allegations of corruption levelled against the service by the residents.

The Kusasi Youth Association in Bawku on Thursday issued a statement accusing top Police officers in the area of corruption and utter disrespect towards the overlord of the Kusaug Kingdom; the Bawku Naba.

The group called on the Acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Alhassan to intervene and end tension in Bawku.

In an interview with Citi News however, the Bawku Divisional Police Commander, ACP Kweku Boadu Peprah dismissed the allegations saying, “there is no element of truth in what they are saying. There is no tension in Bawku".

According to him, the police in the area have never sided with any group be it Mamprusi or the Kusasi.

ACP Boadu however welcomed any possible investigations from the Acting IGP as requested by the youth.
