Vodafone supports 9-year-old domestic violence victim

Vodafone Ghana Foundation has paid for the surgical procedure to help rebuild the life of the nine year-old girl whose grandparents forced her to sit in a bowl of boiling water as punishment for bed wetting.

The young girl will now leave the hospital and be placed in the care of DOVVSU, the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit of Ghana Police.

Carmen Bruce-Annan, Head of Corporate Communications, Brand and Foundation commented on the Foundation’s motivation for stepping in to lend a hand.

‘The Foundation is passionate about addressing the issue of domestic violence in Ghana which is why we are collaborating with the Ark Foundation to establish a call centre set up to help domestic abuse victims.

"All staffs at Vodafone were touched by this little girl’s ordeal and felt it appropriate to support her in this way.’
