Volta Region launches new investment handbook

Mr. Henry Ametefe, Caretaker Minister for the Volta Region, Friday launched a new regional profile handbook titled “Living and Investing in Volta Region 2012/2013.”

Compiled by the Regional Planning and Co-ordinating Unit (RPCU) with the support of the German International Co-operation (GIZ), the Profile presents the latest initiative at marketing the region’s potentials for investment.

Dedicated to the memory of the late Volta Regional Minister, Mr. Henry Ford Kamel, the handbook identified 15 areas as “available investment opportunities” in the region.

These are travel and tourism, wind energy, agriculture and agro-processing, aquaculture, salt mining and quarry.

Others are timber processing, garment production, mining, oil and gas, ceramics and clay products, plastic and paper waste recycling.

The rest are health and hospitals, commercial vehicle maintenance, bilingual educational facilities and sports.

In a foreword to the Handbook, the late Kamel wrote, “you will come to a better understanding of the rich natural and man-made tourism potentials, investment friendly financial and infrastructural support system, government friendly policies, political stability and cohesion as well as the ready market that characterize our beloved region.”

“You are welcome to invest in the Volta Region- the microcosm of Ghana,” he concluded.

Mr Ametefe said the Handbook would be updated every year in order to update and enrich its contents.

Mr Christoph Afenyo, Volta Regional Planning Officer, observed that the Profile was meant to address the demand for information by investors concerning the region’s investment potentials.

The Profile could be accessed on www.voltaregiononline.com and by E-mail on repo@voltaregion.com, voltarepo@gmail.com or on telephone: 0362028301/26691.
