If indeed the popular parlance “the best comes from the West” is true, then the best is not yet in Ghana Music since the Industry is dominated by the Greater Accra residents. Ghana Music though has had a stop in the Western Region before, it’s nestle is not in Western anymore.
Arguably, the Western is the Region with the highest natural resources in Ghana. Topping up with its extravagant resources, amazing talents are widely spread in the Region as well. Musically, names of talents the Oil City can boast of can fill the whole space if this reporter dares to mention. But for the sake of proves, a few can be mentioned; Adez, Sketches Ayiseem, Kofi Kinaata, Consainor, Blaq Out, Nero X, BB da boy Wonder, Atsu Koliko etc.
With strong representation in the Music now, Takoradi boasts of Keche, Castro and Nhyiraba Kojo as its pillars in the industry. With the emergence of Nero X as the winner of the ‘Born Stars’ competition, the signing of Kofi Kinaata to the High grade Family, the Artist circles in the Region is confident this year is the take over for Takoradi which is popularly called Tadi.
Speaking to selected Songsters in the Region, they expressed confidence in this year (2013) adding that, regardless whatever will happen, “it is time for Takoradi”. In turns, the Artists spoke in an interview with us.
Adez who is known in the Showbiz Circles for her thrilling performances at Mentor II spoke that, with the number of hit songs in her musical arsenal, she is taking over Ghana Music this year. In the studio where this reporter interviewed her, Adez played some 2 minutes of her ‘soon to drop’ single song and this reporter who could not hold back his yearn was just ‘Oliver Twisting’.
Sketches Ayiseem also mentioned that, “I have a brand new song which features Castro with title ‘Follow me on Twitter’ and the song is certainly a number one song which will be on every DJ’s playlist”.
Nero X, the ‘Born Star’ also mentioned ‘with his right hand on his chest’ that, the ‘Born Stars’ competition which he emerged winner is a springboard for his talent and Ghana and the world should watch out for him. BB Da boy Wonda also with his ‘Asorte’ banger is certain of taking over Ghana Music as he is on set shooting video for his popular ‘Asorte’ song.
Though daring, the Takoradi Artists have confidently thrown the challenge to the world to watch out for them this year as they will shift the directional musical map to Takoradi.
