Prez Mahama should be grateful to Kufuor- Kwabena Agyepong

Former Spokesperson of President John Kufuor, Kwabena Agyepong, says the Mahama administration should be grateful to the erstwhile government for the construction of the Golden Jubilee House now Flagstaff House.

According to him, President Kufuor during his regime had the needs of the country at heart, hence building such an edifice to complement the work of the presidency.

He told Oman FM in Accra that President John Mahama should express gratitude to the former President now that he is going to occupy the edifice.

“I told them that President Kufuor believes in the building of state institutions,” he praised his boss.

The Flagstaff House, initially called the Golden Jubilee House, was built to serve as the official seat of government. The multi-million dollar edifice was constructed under by Mr Kufuor’s administration and intended to house the President.

But the then opposition National Democratic Congress at the time downplayed its essence, saying it was a misplaced priority.

The party added that its geographical location was a threat to the safety of the President.

The NDC was widely known for describing the place as “Poultry Farm”, a reason the late President John Evans Atta Mills remained in the Castle at Osu even though the edifice had been completed.
