Private sector participation is key to solving sanitation problems -Siaw Agyepong

Dr Joseph Siaw Agyepong, Executive Chairman of Zoomlion, a sanitation company, has expressed the need for Ghana to promote and strengthen Private/Public Partnership in environment and sanitation to keep the nation clean.

Dr Siaw Agyepong, who is also the Executive Chairman of Jospong Group of Companies, said the country’s sanitation problem is a collective responsibility, which should not be laid on the shoulders of government alone.

In a statement issued in Accra on Friday and copied the Ghana News Agency, Dr Agyepong said a number of findings from international organisations show that there is crisis in the water and sanitation conditions in the country.

He called on the government to institute sanitation courts throughout the country and resource them adequately to prosecute cases brought before them.

Dr Agyepong noted that improved water and sanitation and hygiene services are very critical to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals and called on stakeholders to work towards achieving them.
