Majority Leader says salary for members of fifth parliament not due

Dr Benjamin Kunbuor, Majority Leader said on Thursday that no salary has been accrued yet to be paid to members of the fifth Parliament.

Dr Kunbuor who is also Member of Parliament for Nandom constituency was reacting to an issue raised by Mr Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, Minority Leader about a media report that members would boycott proceedings if their salaries were not paid by close of work Thursday, January 10.

Dr Kunbuor noted that much as there were some outstanding salaries for the fifth Parliament, it will be incorrect for him to assure members of any salary to be paid them today, Thursday, January 10.

He said it was time Parliament found a way of upgrading its technology, especially with regard to its time-keeping on when members enter and leave the chamber.

Mr Edward Doe Adjaho, Speaker, however decided to adjourn sitting till Friday, January 11.

Meanwhile, it is stated on the order paper that the House is expected to adjourn till January 29.
