President John Dramani Mahama on Sunday received some foreign dignitaries ahead of his inauguration as the President of the Republic on Monday.
The dignitaries were made up of; Chen Lei, Chinese Minister for Water Resources and Dams, who represented the government of China; Stephen Kalonzo Mosyoka, Vice President of Kenya and Daniel Yohannes, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), who led the United States of America delegation on behalf of the American government.
Apart from representing their countries to witness the inauguration of President Mahama, the dignitaries also used the opportunity to deepen the bilateral relations between their countries and Ghana in the coming years.
Mr Yohannes, CEO of the MCC gave the assurance that the second compact of the Millennium Challenge Account would soon be released to the Ghanaian government to strengthen the energy sector in order to make Ghana self-sufficient in energy generation and a net exporter of the commodity to her neighbours in the West African sub-region and beyond.
President Mahama commended them for coming to attend his inauguration and indicated that the gesture would further strengthen their already cordial relations.
More other Heads of State and other foreign dignitaries are expected to arrive Monday morning to attend the ceremony at the independence square.
