Amihere Blay Bokazo township organise fund raising ceremony

The Amihere Blay Bokazo township in the Ellembelle District has held a grand ceremony to mobilize funds to speed up development of the town.

Led by the chief and people, the ceremony was held to complement government's effort towards the development of communities in the country.

The annual event, which brings sons and daughters both home and abroad as well as invited guests together to socialize and foster development in the area, started in 1983.

In a speech, the financier of the programme, Mr Thomas Elleam Yankey alias Nobody, said the occasion would be used to address pertinent issues facing the town.

He said the initiative had over the years served as a contingency fund which afforded the town the opportunity to undertake needed developmental projects such as the construction of a school blocks and markets.

Mr Yankey expressed gratitude to members of the community for turning out in their numbers to contribute towards the development of the town.

Chief of the town, Nana Nwiah Amgboza 1V, said this year's fund would be used to initiate the construction of a computer laboratory and donated GH¢210 to support the fund.

The Member of Parliament (MP)-elect for Ellembelle, Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah also donated GH¢1,000 towards the fund and reiterated his commitment to the growth of the town.

Nana Ado Nreda,Chief of Azulenloanu, who was a special guest, urged the people to forge ahead in unity to push the development agenda of the town to a higher pedestal.

He also donated GH¢200 to the fund and appealed to them not to allow the aftermath of the December general elections sow divisive tendencies among them.

A chemical seller of the town, Mr Ben Ackah, also donated GH¢400 to support the initiative.
