Our defeat in Awutu-Senya was from within NDC - Party chairman

The Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Awutu Senya East, Alhaji Habib Dramani, has attributed the defeat of the party's parliamentary candidate, Dr. Adams Nuhu in the December 7 election to the activities of some elements in the party who did not wish him well.

Alhaji Habib Dramani in a release issued to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) noted that all secret meetings that were held to develop and accomplish plans for Dr. Adams to lose the seat had come to his notice.

He said he will therefore take stringent measures to expose all those involved and possibly alienate them from the party’s activities.

Alhaji Habib who was speaking at a victory party at Kasoa organized by the party for its members, alleged that those people as part of their agenda, were passing on vital campaign strategies to their opponents and were also campaigning for ‘skirt and blouse’ voting.

Although he did not mention names, he stated that some prominent members of the party were at the polling stations where the NDC lost greatly in the just-ended elections in the Awutu Senya East constituency.

He stated that currently the same group of people were holding secret meetings and openly coming out to attest to their achievement of making the candidate lose the seat, whiles also appointing some from amongst the accomplices as potential Constituency Executives.

“Those who are holding themselves as constituency executive must desist from it and respect the party’s structures”, Alhaji Habib stressed.

Dr. Adams thanked all members of the party who participated in one way or the other in the elections, saying that, “We lost the elections in Kasoa but not our lives, once there is life, there is hope for tomorrow.”

He urged the party faithful not to despair. “I am an achiever and achievers are not known to desert their own. Therefore I will respond to the call of duty anytime, any day.”

Dr. Adams congratulated the MP-elect, Mavis Hawa Koomson and pledged his unflinching support for her.

"I welcome her to the real world of politics where truth stands tall against fiction and false allegations," he said.
