Independence Square will get a new look – Ras Mubarak

Member of the Grounds Sub Committee in-charge of the preparations for the 7th January Swearing-In-Ceremony of President John Mahama’s inauguration, Ras Mubarak says the Independence Square will receive a befitting facelift for the ceremony.

According to the defeated Member of Parliament, plans are under way and would be completed within time to ensure that security, transportation, and other logistics are put into proper use to ensure a successful and smooth ceremony.

Speaking to Citi Fm on Wednesday, Ras Mubarak stated "Now there is got to be a platform where His Excellency, the President will be seated and that is currently under construction, and we are within time.”

"The people responsible for getting us light and all of those other things are also working hand in hand to make sure that all aspects of work at the grounds are covered" he added.

He also mentioned that due to bad weather conditions and the closeness of the building to the sea, it would have to be re-painted to look very clean.

In all, eighteen government delegations across the world and eleven Heads of State have confirmed to participate in the inauguration ceremony scheduled for Monday.
