THE Concerned Youth Of Ahanta West District

George Kwame Aboagye ( Former CEO of GIPC) must not be voted for PRESS RELEASE BY THE Concerned Youth Of Ahanta West District

Fellow citizens of Ahanta West, the Media fraternity, ladies and gentlemen. We are very grateful to you, in granting us the audience to present to your good selves reasons why Mr George Kwame Aboagye, the National Democratic Congress, Parliamentary Candidate for the Ahanta West Constituency, must not be voted for, to represent our Constituency in Parliament.

1. We, the concerned Youth of Ahanta West, believe that every individual irrespective of the person’s background has the right to serve his people and for that matter mother Ghana. However, George Kwame Aboagye, whom we have never heard of, sprung from nowhere and is seeking to represent the people of Ahanta West. In fact, he is not even known in Princess Town where he claims to be his village and has in no way contributed towards the development of the Constituency. 2. We also believe that persons vying to serve or represent their communities and Ghana, must set high standards with regards to their behaviour and conduct. Thus, they must be transparent, possess utmost integrity and have respect for people, amongst others. Unfortunately, George Kwame Aboagye has demonstrated to the entire world, that he is not trustworthy and transparent; for example, his recent conduct as the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana’s investment gateway ( Ghana Investment Promotion Council) which culminated in his abrupt resignation, is a bad example and not a motivator to the Youth of Ahanta West. This story can be verified in the 27th of November, 2012 edition of the Daily Graphic. 3. Per Article 284 of the 1992 Constitution ‘‘ a public officer shall not put himself in a position where his personal interest conflicts or is likely to conflict with the performance of the functions of his office’’. Mr Aboagye has acted contrary to this Constitutional provision by staying at the helm of affairs at the GIPC and continuing to draw his monthly wages and allowances at the expense of poor tax payer. In spite being elected as the Parliamentary candidate for the NDC in the Ahanta West Constituency, only to resign when he was found culpable being involved in financial malfeasance at GIPC. This is an indication that, George Kwame Aboagye’s actions are total disgrace to Ghanaians and the people of Ahanta West. In fact, we do not want our version of ‘woyome’ 4. Ladies and gentlemen, Mr Aboagye also lacks good interpersonal and man management skills, he is impatient, unapproachable and above all indiscipline. For example, he is alleged to have slapped his own nephew in the face in the run up to the NDC primaries. Mr Aboagye is also at serious loggerheads with his NDC hierarchy and the District Chief Executive in the Constituency, thus, we do not envisage how he can bring us together as one people and represent us in Parliament and contribute to the socio-economic development of the entire Constituency and Ghana, if he is elected. 5. There is cogent evidence that, his Constituency Executives wrote to the National Headquarters that they do want him as their Parliamentary Candidate, citing his impatience, indiscipline and his alleged invitation of guests to his hotel room as he does not have a home in the constituency, where is vying for the seat of a Member of Parliament. 6. Ladies and gentlemen, for the first time in our Constituency our political campaign has been plagued with violence and a lot of intimidation, as Mr Aboagye is purported to have supplied some of our fellow youth with alcoholic beverages, culminating in violence and intimidation people on the other side of the political divide.

We the youth yearn for good role models, we have had the likes of the Mr R.R Quarshie, Mr E.K Dadson and Nana Hema Dekyi all of blessed memory who contributed to the socio-economic development of the Constituency and morally their names can be mentioned with pride by the youth of Ahanta West. It is our hope that the good people of this Constituency will remain focused and ponder the aforementioned reasons and vote against Mr George Kwame Aboagye.

Thank you, long leave Ahanta West and Long live the people of Ghana.
