Ashanti Caucus Awaits Nana Addo’s Defeat

Leading members of former President John Agyekum Kufuor’s faction in the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) including Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, are said to be waiting and praying that their flagbearer, Williams Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo loses in the first round next week, in the Presidential election.
This they believe, will end any chance of Akufo-Addo attempting to be the party’s flagbearer for the third time. According to them, Nana Addo has been a great disappointment and only a first round defeat will silence his ambition for good.
The Ashanti-sect also believes that, Mr. John Allan Kwadwo Kyerematen is the only candidate, like his mentor, ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor, who can win the Presidential election for the NPP in 2016.
It would be recalled that a group calling itself “MOVEMENT FOR ALAN 2016”, principally made up of the Ashantis in the NPP, is working very hard for Akufo-Addo to lose the upcoming Presidential election to pave way for their preferred choice, Allan John Kwadwo Kyerematen to become the flagbearer of the NPP in 2016.
Meanwhile, a list of Nana Akufo-Addo’s cabinet indicates that Mr. Isaac Osei, Mr. Allan Kyerematen and Dr. Kwame Addo Kufuor have been omitted. Stay tuned for juicy update on Kufuor’s proposed cabinet.
