NPP didn't share affordable houses to cronies - Hackman

Former Minister of Works and Housing, Hackman Owusu Agyemang, has denied being caught up in a conflict of interest situation during his term in office as far as the botched affordable housing project is concerned.

According to the current administration, the project started by the former Kufuor administration was allegedly fraught with cronyism.

Hackman Owusu Agyemang, who is also the MP for New Juabeng North in the Eastern Region, was accused of awarding some contracts concerning the project to his own company SIKELELE limited while in office.

“People always think that what they will normally do is what people do. Theirs is no iota of truth that, one, I gave contracts to my company,” he denied.

According to Mr. Owusu Agyemang, he has no company that dealt with the affordable housing project, insisting that the only company that existed at the time was one in the health sector, which collapsed.

He said such allegations have been made against him in the past and had even threatened to take someone on only to be talked out of it because the individual in question apologized.

“There is no iota of doubt that my family was in no way connected to the affordable housing project… I have an integrity to protect,” he said adding this is not how I live.
