EFG to institute Ghana Made Products and Entrepreneur month

Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana (EFG) is instituting Ghana Made Products of the month and Entrepreneur of the month competition in January 2013.

The competition is prior to the maiden edition of Ghana Made Products Awards 2012 scheduled for 2013 and the 3rd UT Ghana Entrepreneur Awards 2012. EFG is a non-profit and private sector-led organisation aim at harnessing the power of entrepreneurship and innovation to facilitate the growth of the Ghanaian economy and improve living standards.

A statement issued in Accra on Wednesday by Mr. Sam Ato Gaisie, Founder and President of the Foundation said the entrepreneur of the month competition is designed to honour outstanding Ghanaian and non- Ghanaian resident entrepreneurs monthly, in micro, small, medium and large enterprises for their contribution to economic growth and job creation.

The competition which will be conducted monthly will be an opportunity for manufacturing industries to gain competitive advantage by having their products recognised on a prominent and far-reaching scale and provide them with the ultimate platform to improve Ghana made product awareness, loyalty and retention by expanding the exposure, recognition and prestige of their goods and services.

“The competition is all about promoting and exposing unknown, new, improved and innovative locally made products to consumers; create awareness, loyalty, recognition and prestige for Ghana made products in an effort to market the goods and strengthening the economy.

“The selected products will leverage their achievement by highlighting winning products through various print and electronic media channels and create opportunities for marketing, advertising, promotion, publicity, positive profiling and heightened Ghana made product awareness within their industries, Mr Gaisie said.

He said entries would be assessed utilising key evaluation criteria such as: Leadership, Features, Innovation, Performance, Benefits, Value and Sustainability.

The competitors are supposed to submit entry details demonstrating extensive product manufacturing capabilities to enable stakeholders to benchmark them against top manufacturers in the sector.

Mr Gaisie said the competition would utilize a rigorous and dynamic framework to ensure that the assessment process is pertinent, objective, and free of bias or influence.
