Kwetey leads Delegation to IMF/World Bank Annual Meetings

Mr. Fiifi Kwetey, a Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning is leading a Government delegation to the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Annual Meetings in Tokyo-Japan, scheduled from October 9 - 14, 2012.
Other members of the delegation are; the Acting Governor, Bank of Ghana Dr. Henry Kofi Wampah, the Director General of the National Development Planning Commission, Dr. Regina O. Adutwum and officers from the Finance Ministry.
A statement from the Public Relations Unit of the Ministry of Finance to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Monday said the delegation would also attend the Commonwealth Finance Ministers Meeting which precedes the IMF meetings.
Other meetings they would attend include the G8 and G24 Ministerial Meetings, and a forum on “Fuel Electricity Subsidies in sub-Saharan Africa and its importance” among others.
“They will also attend seminars on “The Energy Challenge of Africa: Energy Infrastructure Development in Africa - Toward TICAD V in 2013” and “Sub-Saharan Africa Regional Economic Outlook,” the statement stated.
According to the statement, aside from the obligatory meetings with the fund and the bank, the delegation would hold bilateral discussions with other partner countries, financial institutions, private investors and global Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).
The Ghanaian delegation will in addition sign two loan agreements with the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA, US$8.6 million) and the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID, US$10 million).
The two are co-financing the Trauma and Acute Care Centre Project at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and the Rural Integrated Development Project.
