National Assembly of Botswana invites RTP to open a branch

The National Assembly Sub-Committee on Youth, Sports and Culture of Botswana has called on the management of Right to Play (RTP), a global organization that uses the transformative power of play and sports to empower children to establish a branch in the country.

This was a after a seven-member committee on Youth, Sports and Culture of the National Assembly of Botswana interacted with the management and staff of RTP and expressed satisfaction with their operations in Ghana and other parts of the continent.

Dikkgang P. Makgalemele, Chairman of the Committee and leader of the delegation told officials of the international organization and described the RTP concept as unique and urged them to consider opening a branch in Botswana.

“This is a very unique concept and we invite you to come over to Botswana to replicate a concept there.

“We shall give you all the necessary support to succeed in Botswana because we believe it will help improve the life of children deprived children in Ghana,” Makgalemele noted.

He said the committee was highly impressed with the level of organization of RTP as well as their methodologies used for educating children.

Dr. Bella Bello Bitugu, Country Manager of RTP Ghana, said though they have a sub-regional group that takes care of Botswana, they will consider the request of the committee and take the necessary steps to realize that dream.

He said his outfit which is the biggest Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in the world, that uses the power of sports to address community needs is keen on strengthening its operations in disadvantaged parts of the world.

According to Dr. Bitugu, RTP has for the past years enjoyed fruitful collaboration with the ministry of youth and sports, ministry of education, ministry of health and other national organizations to promote their activities in Ghana.

He expressed appreciation to the committee for selecting RTP as one of the organisations for study during their stay in Ghana.
