Man Gunned Down

A 35-YEAR-OLD man was killed after two unidentified persons in masks attacked him and his wife in their residence at dawn yesterday at Naribehi in the Atwima Nwabiagya District of the Ashanti Region.

His 27-year-old wife sustained some injuries.

The police suspected that the incident was beyond robbery as the killers fled with only GH¢200 and two pieces of cloth after shooting to death Isaac Antwi in the right eye.

DCOP Augustine Gyening, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, said the sad incident took place in the couple’s room in the Naribahi community that lay between Abuakwa and Nkawie in the same district.

Isaac Antwi, a trader, and his wife, Beatrice Antwi, also a trader, lived alone and they were awakened by the sound of the miscreants who entered their room after breaking into it.

The police chief said this was around 2am when the gun-wielding men stormed the room by forcing the door open.

They called the man’s name and asked for an unspecified amount of money they were looking for, and before Antwi could answer, one of the masked goons shot him in the right eye, DCOP Gyening recounted.

He said the body of the deceased had been deposited at the morgue while the police were looking for the perpetrators of the crime.
