NDC not ready for another four years - Amakye

Political Science Lecturer, Kwesi Amakye, says the President and his team appear unprepared to prosecute an effective campaign to retain power.

The KNUST Lecturer in an interview with XYZ News said President Mahama and Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur have inherited a lot of dirt which must be dusted off before presenting their case to the electorate ahead of the December polls.

He made specific reference to some judgment debt awards paid to certain individuals under apparently questionable circumstances to drive home his point.

“The NDC could do well to cleanse itself…there are problems there” Mr. Amakye told host of Breakfast XYZ, Emefa Apawu.

The Political Science Lecturer added that “I think the party is not ready to embark on a campaign to ask the people to renew their mandate.

“I don’t think the government led by John Mahama and his team is ready, I think they have a lot of house cleaning to do”.

But the Convener of Civil Society group, Forum for Governance and Justice rebuffs Kwesi Amakye’s assertion.

Dr. Clement Apaak who is also a lecturer at the University of Ghana said his colleague lecturer is being too harsh on the ruling party and its leadership.

According to Dr. Apaak, the NDC as a party has gone through a lot in recent months and must be credited for the manner the President has organized and united the party some few months to the general elections.
