Sekuo: NDC sponsoring PNC

The national leadership of the People's National Convention (PNC) has been accused of being in bed with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to undermine the electoral fortunes of the minority party ahead of 2012 general elections.

Two leading members of the PNC, Bernard Mornah, General Secretary, and Hassan Ayariga, the party's flag bearer, have been identified as the alleged persons who are working secretly with the ruling NDC to pursue their personal and parochial interest.

David Lamptey, a leading member of the NDC and a close pal of the late President Mills, is alleged to be sponsoring the parliamentary ambition of the PNC general secretary, who is seeking to contest the Wa Central seat in the Upper West Region.

According to Sekou Nkrumah, he was personally a witness to a meeting where the NDC guru, who is the owner of Sidalco Company Limited, pledged to finance the campaign of Mr. Mornah including the supply of motorbikes for the campaign activities.

Interestingly, Rashid Pelpuo, NDC Member of Parliament for Wa Central, is also seeking re-election for the upcoming general elections.

Dr. Nkrumah argued that there was no way the PNC secretary was going to win the seat which in the end the latter would be compelled to work for the NDC indirectly in the December polls.

In a related development, Mr. Ayariga has been called upon to resign as the flag bearer for the PNC because of his perceived anti-party activities and his persistent desire to work with the ruling NDC.

A concerned group within the PNC has called on the party's leadership to consider replacing Hassan Ayariga if he fails to voluntarily resign, citing a number of instances where he had associated himself with NDC events and activities.

He joined the NDC supporters at the Kotoka International Airport to welcome the late President Mills when he returned from the United States from a medical check-up and also attended NDC special congress at Kumasi, which was meant to endorse President Mahama as NDC flag bearer for the 2012 polls.
