Peace Council backs calls to investigate Yaw Boateng Gyan

Most Rev. Professor Emmanuel Asante, Chairman of the National Peace Council, has called on the security agencies to swiftly institute full-scale investigations into the alleged dangerous comments made by Mr. Yaw Boateng Gyan.

According to the respected man of God, failure to investigate the content of the leaked secret tape could fuel tensions among political parties and erode the little confidence that the masses have in the security services.

“We are going round telling people to abide by law and embrace unity as we approach the elections and if such comments are gone without investigations, then the little confidence the public have in the security services will be eroded. So it is important that the issue is fully investigated,” he said.

Most Rev. Professor Asante said this when he made his views known on the leaked secrete tape on an Accra based radio station on Friday.

The tape implicates the National Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Boateng Gyan, of promising party loyalists soft loans and National Security Identification, to foment trouble in the impending general elections.

Yaw Boateng Gyan has since admitted the voice on the tape is his but insists parts of the recordings were doctored.

So far, 18 minutes out of the 35 minutes of the tape has been played.
