Bawumia tackles Mahama over Boateng Gyan comments

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice Presidential candidate of opposition New Patriotic party (NPP), has waded into the controversy surrounding the secret tape which had the National Organizer of the NDC plotting with some people to destruct the December polls.

Dr. Bawumia speaking to journalists in the Brong Ahafo Region on Thursday, said the development served as a litmus test to President John Dramani Mahama, adding that it is imperative that the president demonstrates that he is capable of ensuring peace and stability in the December elections.

The financial luminary cum politician said Mr. Yaw Boateng Gyan's comments on the tape were cogent evidence that the NDC was putting measures to destabilize the peace of the nation.

According to Dr. Bawumia, President Mahama's action on the matter would go a long way to determine his commitment towards ensuring the peace of the nation and the credibility of the December ballot.

“... President Mahama must bring to book Yaw Boateng Gyan for this statement and the people that he was conniving with to destabilize the security of this country,” he added.

Mr. Boateng Gyan on Wednesday admitted on Adom Fm in Accra that the voice on the leaked tape was his, after it was played on Oman Fm on Tuesday.

The station, however, promised to play several of such secret meetings which have some executives of the ruling party scheming to foment trouble in the December elections.
