Ashanti NDC unhappy poor response to voter register exhibition

The Ashanti Regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed worry about the general apathy towards the provisional voters register exhibition.

Mr. Joseph Yamin, Regional Secretary, said the poor response to the exercise gave cause for concern and blamed the Electoral Commission (EC) for the low publicity given to it.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi, he said the provisional register contained mistakes which required the physical presence of the voters to get these corrected.

He said there are instances where names of registered voters in different clusters had been mixed up and warned if not rectified could disfranchise many on voting day.

Mr. Yamin appealed to the people not to underestimate the importance of the exercise and asked that they checked that their names, photograph and other personal data are accurately captured in the provisional register.
