Never one to shy away from courting controversy or boldly speaking his mind; even if deemed too caustic, outspoken former oil magnate, Kofi Wayo is in the news again.
The latest unsavory remark to drop from the lips of the gentleman affectionately known as “Chuck” is that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government is becoming “useless”due to its “weak” foundation.
The Founder and Leader of the United Renaissance Party (URP), minced no words in lambasting the NDC for failing to deal with the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which he described as an association made up of “criminals”.
He catalogued a litany of charges to back his claim.
“Listen, this is a party (NPP) that tried to kill a National Security Advisor…do you remember when Korle Bu Theatre was closed? Do you remember Ghana@5O? ...What did they do at Ghana@5O? Look at the money they spent… in the year 2002, out of the HIPC fund, the Ministry of Trade and Industry received ¢1,619,250,000, Office of the Senior Minister under J.H. Mensah got ¢17,000,000,000 and you ask how much did they give to the police…¢2,000,000,000. And I have been telling you that these people (NPP) are not correct and you won’t listen to me,” he said.
Speaking to Radio Gold in an interview, Kofi Wayo was of the strong opinion that the NDC stands a clear chance of losing the impending elections if the party does not man up and deal with some members in the NPP for their pronouncements which he believed are out of line.
The URP leader labeled the NDC a “useless government” for its constant over-dependence on its founder, former President Jerry John Rawlings, on how best to steer the affairs of the nation.
“If they are going to keep on with this Rawlings…a man who came and murdered his fellow Ghanaians, sold everything to his wife…the Ghanaian people are watching,” he said.
