Election 2012 Be Vigilant, Not Violent

President Mahama Urges Ghanaians

One most important statement made by the President, Mr. John Dramani Mahama yesterday, was to urge Ghanaians to remain vigilant than become violent, in the round-up, during and after the 2012 presidential and parliamentary elections.
President Mahama, who was addressing a special congress organised by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to confirm him, as the Party Flagbearer, in Kumasi, also drew an important analogy that in a keenly contested football match, it is only the team which is not sure of winning that tries to bring the match to an abrupt end.
He said if a team was sure of winning, that team will ensure that the game ends peacefully and successfully.
This is in sharp contrast to the “all die be die” mantra of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Mr. Williams Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
His Excellency John Dramani Mahama also assured his party members that he will do everything possible to bring lasting peace and unity in the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), so as to enable it prosecute the “Better Ghana Agenda” properly, and to the immense benefit of Ghanaians.
It would be recalled that the NPP led by its flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo has continue to preach war and incite party members to engage in violent activities, in the upcoming elections, because, the party wants power at “all cost”.
