Mills Sacrificed For NDC - President Mahama

In our local Akan tradition, death at times can be seen as a unifying factor; and this was amply summed by His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, when he addressed members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) who had gathered at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi, yesterday for the party’s special delegate congress.
According to him, though the sudden demise of President John Evans Atta Mills is a big blow to the NDC, greater opportunities will come the way of the party.
“Prof. Mills has paid the price, and his death has opened a new door of opportunity for our great party, NDC; and I wish to pledge that, with your mandate as a leader, I will do everything to open that door of opportunity, and as well, re-cement the bonds and opportunity that held us together as NDC”, president Mahama stated.
He also pledged his avowed commitment to restore the hope and confidence that members of the NDC and the country have in the leadership of the NDC.
Without mincing words, the president indicated that, the NDC does not managed its disagreements to the best of expectation, and in appreciation to all that God has done for the party, as he promises to unite the rank and file of the party ahead of the upcoming elections.
In a related development, however, President John Dramani Mahama was officially elected as the flagbearer of the great NDC, after securing 99.5% of the total votes cast at the party’s special national delegate’s congress in Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region, yesterday.
He secured 2768 of the 2792 of the total votes casted, representing 99.5% for the endorsement of his candidature as the party’s flagbearer for the 2012 general elections.
The special delegates congress was occasioned, following the untimely and painful demise of former President John Evans Atta Mills, who was earlier elected as the party’s flagbearer, in Sunyani last year.
