“Mills Died Of The Cancer Of Political Hatred”

A leading member of the opposition Convention People’s Party (CPP), Prof. Agyemang Badu-Akosa says the late Prof. John Evans Atta Mills died as a result of the cancer of political hatred just as Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah died of the cancer of political betrayal.

He said President Mill’s death could bring great benefit to the country and that his stature was great even in death.

Prof. Badu-Akosa wrote this after signing the Book of Condolence in honour of the late President at the State Banquet Hall.

According to Prof. Akosa, he knew Prof. Mills as a lecturer at the University of Ghana, Legon. “Prof. Mills once told me that he was a better CPP member than I was and I could not say otherwise. He told me that in life, you take opportunities, and he (Mills) took opportunity and became the president of this country.”

He said late President Mills’ life had taught him that nothing was greater than humility, adding that politicians ought to learn lessons from the life he lived.

Prof. Akosa said the political pressure and temperature increased tremendously the day after Prof. Mills was declared president of the country.

He said Ghana had chosen to use four years to do partisan politics and ignored development.

Prof. Akosa hoped the death of President Mills would bring unity, which could aid in the country’s development process, adding that scoring cheap political point does not help.
