Late President Mills was a peace loving Statesman - Dr Christine Nuamah

Dr Christine Amoaku Nuamah, Head of Policy Unit at the Office of the President on Wednesday described the late President John Evans Atta Mills as matured and peace loving statesman who cannot be forgotten by Ghanaians.

She appealed to Ghanaians to use the demise of the late President Mills as a uniting force and maintain peace and stability as “we mourn his death.”

Dr Nuamah made the observation in an address to mark the reading of tributes and cultural performances in honour of the late President at the forecourt of the State House in Accra.

She said the leadership qualities of the late President Mills was known and always seen by all Ghanaians.

Tributes in honour of the late President Mills were read on behalf of Presidents, Diplomats, high profile personalities, political leaders and Corporate Institutions.

Mr. Kofi Adjorlolo, a renowned Ghanaian actor, read tributes on behalf of Pope Benedict XVI, Mr. Francois Hollande, President of France, Mr. David Cameroun, British Prime Minister and Mr. Ban Ki-Moon, United Nations Secretary General.

Tributes were also read on behalf of the European Union, Mrs Hillary Clinton, United States Secretary of State and Dr Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of Liberia, Dr Paa Kwesi Ndoun, Presidential candidate of the Progressive Peoples Party and the National Democratic Congress Branch in Canada.

There were performances by the Ghana Dance Ensemble, poem recitals and cultural dance groups from all the regions.**
