Betty- the diamond the NDC left to collect stones

The
performance of Mrs. Betty Mould Iddrisu last Thursday before the Public
Accounts Committee (PAC) of parliament has restored the confidence of the NDC
in the raging judgement debt battle between it and the NPP.
Until recently,
the NPP saw the matter, especially the saga involving the payment of judgement
debt to Alfred Woyome as its triumph card to winning this December’s elections.
Really, the NDC should have faced the NPP head-on in this matter right from the
onset but thanks to the Ahitophile’s counsel the party continues to receive
from certain quarters, they rather withdrew, allowing the NPP to ascend to the
moral high ground and begin dictating the pace.
The
ruling party realized very late in the day that the judgement debt matter was
not a matter for Woyome or Mrs. Betty Mound Iddrisu to fight because these
people are not the targets of the NPP. The real target (of the NPP) has always
been President Mills because his integrity hurts them especially since their
flag-bearer has no integrity of his own left as a result of his addiction to
wee and cocaine, misbehavior in public, especially the fondling of the breast
of a female worker of GBC and his urinating on a mosque as well as his call for
blood to be shed just so he can become President of Ghana.
Adopting
the adage ‘better late than never’ the NDC has gamely fought back and succeeded
in making Ghanaians realize that in the matter of the payments of the judgement
debts, it is the NPP that is guilty. The NDC is only cleaning up the mess they
created.
The
icing on the cake was the performance of Mrs. Betty Mould Iddrisu before the
PAC last Thursday. It really was a performance that sent NDC supporters
jubilating into the weekend. It has been one of the most exciting days since
then. Yet, here is a woman the NDC left in the lurch a few months ago to fight
the battle alone. Intelligence this paper picked suggests even that she was
being left out of the NDC’s outreach programme in the Ashanti Region in spite
of the huge support she commands in the region.
Betty’s
performance at the PAC should be a lesson to the NDC; never ignore someone who cares
for you because someday, you will
realize you’ve lost a diamond while you were busily collecting stones!
