Sakara Calls for a Bi-Partisan Enquiry on Judgement Debt

Dr Abu Sakara – Presidential Candidate of the Convention People’s Party has offered a clear path for the country on Judgement Debt.
Speaking to the media on Thursday 12th July, Dr Sakara said the issue of Judgement Debt must be viewed in the broader context of:

o Accountability in Government,
o The Integrity of State Institutions,
o The mechanisms of state institutions and how to ensure they function properly.

He said further that the matter should not just be about pointing fingers but that what is needed is a non- partisan and transparent Commission of Enquiry which will seek to establish:

1. The scale of the problem.
2. What has gone wrong?
3. Establish where loopholes exist in the system.
4. Devise mechanisms to block same.

The CPP Flagbearer said that the issue has eroded confidence in our politics and raised suspicions thatthose who should be gatekeepers in the protection of the public interest have taken their eye off the ball and allowed wrongdoers to prosper.

“There is a need for a Forensic Audit of the major transactions involved by an internationally trusted audit body” Dr Sakara said.

The CPP Presidential candidate told the Media that the erosion of trust must be halted to restore public confidence.
“The outcome of the transparent investigation must lead to punishment of any wrongdoing including sequestration of assets if necessary to serve as a deterrent for the future” Dr Sakara said

He added that ultimately someone must accept responsibility to bring closure to the issue.

We must stop going round and roundin circles as the country suffers in the process he concluded.

Dr Abu Sakara
