*: Produce statements wishing Nana Addo well for going through routine medical check-ups*
A member of the Government communications team Felix Kwakye Ofosu has questioned the motive behind Nana Akoffo Addo’s goodwill massage to president Mills.
He is of the view that the message is ill- intentioned and laced with mischief calculated to feed into the minds of the people that the president is sick and thus unfit to run for re-election.
He told *Goldnews* on Monday that Nana Addo’s conduct is shocking and that he is getting himself involved in cheap propaganda that seek to create a deliberate impression that the president somehow deserves sympathy for being sick.
‘’ Over the last three weeks or so the NPP has been involved in a certain desperate effort to create the impression that the president someway somehow is not in charge of this country. You recall that in the wake of the clashes at Ekumfi and Hohoe members of the NPP and their other fellows like Paa Kwesi Nduom made calls on the president to speak and to show up at the conflict zones and created the impression that the president somehow was in control of affairs’’.
‘’ So as the week drew to a close last week, they needed an explanation for why the president hadn’t spoken or hadn’t been to the conflict zones and that is how come they deliberately put the rumors through that the president had passed away’’.
He believes that the rumour was put in the public domain by the New Patriotic Party(NPP).
‘’I have absolutely no doubt that that rumour was put into the system by the NPP. If you doubt me, check the facebook wall of Gabby Asare Okyere Darko and other NPP propagandist on particular social network. You will find Gabby writing that say a prayer for the president. What is it that the president has done or was going to do that require a prayer to be said for him’’.
‘’They have simply been trying to set the stage for a situation where Ghanaians will believe that president Mills is unfit to continue to lead this country. But the last thing I expected was that Nana Addo will jump into this propaganda’’.
‘’ Since when in our history has somebody been wished well for a medical check-up, since when has somebody called for a prayer for somebody who was going for a routine medical check-up’’, he quizzed.
He has therefore challenged the NPP to make public any statement it issued wishing Nana Addo well and praying for him for going through a routine medical check-up.
