Akufo Addo Is Next President -JJ

Bombshell! NDC Founder JJ Proclaims…

It’s now formally established, Ghana’s longest serving Head of State and Founder of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jerry John Rawlings wouldn’t be part of the Mills campaign for the upcoming December elections, The Al-Hajj can report.

Mr. Jerry Rawlings has finally put to rest any remotest suggestion that he would be participating in this year’s political campaign for the NDC when he sticks-out his neck to proclaim that the flag bearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo will be the next president of Ghana.

The former president, in conversations and correspondence via texting with some ‘loyalists’ who were expressing some disquiet going into the December elections and maintaining a high level of ‘consistency’ in as far as the performances of the government of the party he founded, NDC, is concerned, Mr. Rawlings remains resolute that President Mills will lose the election to Nana Akufo Addo.

“Although it is not something I am happy about, the truth of the matter is that, your party and government has long gone into opposition, it’s very unfortunate but that is the truth and the people understand my position”. Ex President Rawlings relayed in one such communication in the possession of The Al-Hajj.

According to the two times coup-maker, though some people within the party will want the world to believe that he Rawlings, will be the cause of the defeat of President Mills and the NDC with his pronouncements, he (Rawlings) knows this will not wash because the teeming mass of the grassroots are ethical and shares in his concern.

The NDC founder who is also the Chairman of the Council of Elders of the party in other correspondence disclosed that he, as a man of integrity, whose entire existence on this planet depends on it; there is no way he will compromise his stance simply because some people want the NDC to retain power.

“Sorry chief, there is however another view, besides, integrity means more to me and my life depends on it than power and the presidency”, Rawlings said this to a bemused aficionado who went pleading for reconciliation and unity within the NDC.

Recently at the celebrations of the 33rd Anniversary of the June 4th Uprising at Aflao in the Volta Region, Jerry John Rawlings re-echoed his long-held view that the NDC party will lose the 2012 elections for throwing away the values and ideals of June 4th.

According to him, the current crop of NDC members, especially those in leadership are leading the party in a different direction, far from the principles and values on which the party was founded.

And earlier in May last year, whiles addressing an enthusiastic audience at the Accra International Conference Centre at the formal launch of his wife, Nana Konadu’s bid for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential slot; the former President said the party started losing the 2012 general election within the first week in office of the government, adding; “it finally lost it eight months ago”.

He said, the NDC could only be brought back on track if “we change gear, until we change the driver”. (Implying, not until the party replaces president Mills with his wife, Nana Konadu as its flag bearer for this December presidential elections, it is doomed.)

The ace former air force pilot Jerry John Rawlings, first gave a hint this year, of the outcome of the December polls, his future role and involvement in the Mills campaign for the crucial December elections in his "enemy and the traitor" allegory speech at the 30th anniversary celebration of the formation of the 31st December Women's Movement – a movement founded by his wife, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra on the 15th of May. According to him: “We have always had to fight against one 'enemy' or opposition …, this time, however, we are fighting against two enemies – one the perceived enemy and the other one the traitor. We cannot fight both at the same time and therefore one has to go”.
