NDC looks up to women to win 2012 elections

Hajia Salamatu Cecilia Hamza, the Upper West Regional Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) says the party is looking up to women to vote massively for it to win the December Polls.

She said the pro-poor interventions that the NDC Government had implemented favored women more than men and called on them to reciprocate the gesture by voting for the NDC to continue to enjoy more of such policies and programmes.

Hajia Hamza was addressing women executives, ladies’ clubs, regional and district executives, district chief executives and supporters of the NDC, at the inauguration of an office for the Women’s Wing of the Party in Wa at the weekend.

She urged women in the Region to point to the boreholes, the school buildings, health facilities and the electricity among other facilities that the Government had provided them to politicians who would want to use propaganda to discredit the Government that it had done nothing for them during its three years in office.

Hajia Hamza appealed to executives and supporters of the NDC to conduct this year’s electioneering campaign devoid of insults and to base their campaigns on issues and development projects that had been implemented.

Madam Anita De-Sosoo, National Women’s Organiser of the NDC, said more women should be given scholarships to further their education and appealed to the metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies to empower women to take up leadership positions.

She appealed to party members to bury their differences and remain united to work for victory for the party in the 2012 elections.

Mr. Johnson Aseidu Nketia, General Secretary of the NDC, said the youth of Ghana had a brighter future and urged them not to allow self-seeking politicians to deceive them into taking any action that would jeopardize their future.

He said Ghana needed peace in its quest for democracy and development and appealed to women to be agents of peace in the communities by talking to their husbands and children to maintain peace in Ghana, especially during this year’s elections.

He gave the assurance that the NDC would not do anything that would disturb the peace and urged other political parties to also pledge to go by the tenets of the national code of ethics so that together Ghana would be the proud winner in the 2012 elections.**
