Gomoa West MP undertakes development projects

The Member of Parliament for Gomoa West, Mr Francis Kojo Arthur, is undertaking a number of projects in the constituency to improve the living standards of the people.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at the presentation of 1,000 desks to basic schools in the constituency, Mr. Arthur said he used part of his MP’s Common Fund to make the furniture to support schools with inadequate desks.

He said as a teacher, he could not look on unconcerned while children carried their parents’ dining tables and chairs to school.

The MP said he had rehabilitated some kindergartens infrastructure at Ohua, Ollefleku, Gomoa Nkran, Nduem and Gomoa Nkoransa, and provided the schools and Moslem communities with mats.

He said he had also rehabilitated markets at Gomoa Wassa, Dawurampong, Odina, Oguaa, Gomoa Mankessim, Obiri, Gomoa Takyiman and Appiakwaa Debiso to generate revenue for the District Assembly.

He said two Community Information Centres were to be provided at Pinanko, which was under construction, and Mankessim, yet to be started.

Mr. Arthur said as a measure to open-up the Constituency, he had decided to reconstruct some roads, which had been abandoned for more than 40 years to make some communities easier and shorter to access.

The roads are Gomoa Tarkwa/Debiso, Debiso/Okwahu, Gomoa Maim/ Asempanyin and Achiase/Akropong.

Mr. Arthur said he was going to use his share of the HIPC Fund and the Common Fund to fund the projects.**
