Nartey determined to win 2012 Cowbell Cycling Tour

Isaac Nartey of the Young Stars Cycling Club showed he was a master in cycling, showing better endurance to take the ultimate Yellow Jersey at the seventh stage of the 2012 Cowbell Cycling Tour.

It was the fourth time Nartey had won the Yellow Jersey and received the Best by Time award as well as the White Jersey for the Youngest by time award.

His counterpart Samuel Anim, also showed consistency by winning the Green and Red Jerseys to receive the Best by Point and Best Fighter awards to give recognition to their clubs.

Die Hard Club for the fourth time won the Blue Jersey for the best team, having won the same award at the first, fifth and sixth stages.

William Nartey of H.M. Club, however came first with a time of 2:54:53 in the stage classification of the seventh stage of the tour from Techiman to Kumasi, over a distance of 107-kilometres.

Aminu Mohammed Osman, captain of the national cycling team and a member of Tamale-based Pacesetter Club, showed experience and determination to place second whilst Yakubu Moro Egala of Die Hard Club finished third.

Alhaji Dr. Moro Gariba, Managing Director of Agyaa Herbal Medication Consultancy, flagged the riders for the take off in the Techiman township.

He commended the organizers for the initiative, which he said will go a long way in encouraging the youth to take to cycling as a sport.

He advised the riders to exercise patient and tolerance in their desire to excel on the Tour, whilst cautioning them to be wary of the slippery routes during the rainy season.

Alhaji Gariba urged the Techiman Municipal Assembly to encourage the youth to form a cycling club in the area.

Wolanyo Agra, Director General of the National Sports Authority was at the finishing point at Tafo and presented awards to the winners.

The eighth stage will see the riders embarking on a circuit ride through some principal streets in the Kumasi metropolis.

The Cowbell Tour of Ghana is being organized by the Ghana Cycling Federation with support from Promasidor Ghana Limited, Ministry of Youth and Sports, National Sports Authority (NSA), Bic, TV3, Multimedia Group and Motor Traffic and Transport Unit of the Ghana Police Service.**
