Miss Ghana/Miss World team visits Vice President

The Vice President John Mahama on Monday welcomed a delegation from both the Miss Ghana and Miss Ghana organization, at the Castle OSU.
The Miss World team is in the country on a five-day working visit, to officially cut the sod for the construction of a nursery facility for a day care centre at Ayalolo, in the Greater Accra Region, as well as to attend the launch of Miss Ghana 2012
Led by Executive Chairwoman of the Miss World organization Julia Morley, Ivian Sarcos, Miss World 2011, Miss Peurto Rico, Miss England and Chief Mandela, son of former South African leader Nelson Mandela, among a host of others including Stephanie Karikari, Miss Ghana 2010, and Inna Mariam Patty, organizer and franchise holder of the Miss Ghana event, the delegation were at the Castle to formally brief him on the purpose of their visit, and also to ask for his blessings for a smooth execution of the Beauty With a Purpose project embarked upon by Miss Ghana 2010 Stephanie Adwoa Adjeiwaa Karikari.
The team later visited the project site at the Sodom and Gomorrah establishment.
John Mahama underscored the important role projects like that of Stephanie’s play in the lives of people, especially the Sodom and Gomorrah establishment, adding that the Miss Ghana event continues to be a significant event on the calendar of Ghana’s entertainment industry and that it was important that the office is championing this social course.
Also present at the ceremony were some ministers of state including the Mayor of Accra, Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, whose office has donated a piece of land on which the day care facility would be built.
Miss Ghana 2010 Stephanie Karikari, a proud winner of last year’s Miss World Beauty with a Purpose award, is seeking to raise funds to put up the facility.
A special fund raising Charity Ball will be held at the Banquet Hall of the State House on Tuesday May 22, to raise a substantial seed money in support of the project.
Ghana is a two-time proud recipient of the Beauty with a Purpose award, which was instituted in 2001 by the Miss World organization, to award and encourage contestants whose projects seek to impact positively on the human race.
The last recipient before Stephanie was Lamisi Mbillah, whose project on the eradication of Guinea Worm in northern Ghana won the topmost prize in 2006.
Miss Ghana 2012 is an Exclusive Events Ghana event.
