Anas Aremeyaw Anas and ReelAfrican.com partner up for distribution of investigative documentaries to US audiences

Los Angeles (May 15, 2012) - ReelAfrican.com, Africa’s budding premier destination for film, TV series and documentaries, has just announced that it is now working with Anas Aremeyaw Anas, CEO of Tiger Eye Productions and Africa’s leading undercover investigative journalist. Mr. Anas is well known for his stories on human trafficking, corruption and human rights violations.

This record has been recognized by many world leaders, including US President Barack Obama, who once commended him a "a courageous journalist risking his life to report the truth". Over the years, he has worked on major and powerful investigative stories featured extensively on the BBC World Service, NPR Radio, Channel 4 and Al Jazeera. He currently plays a leading role in Al Jazeera's Africa Investigates Documentary series. He is also the recipient of major international and domestic Awards such as Hero Award from the US State Department (2008), the Kurt Schork Award from the Frontline Club in London (2008), multiple winner of the Best Investigative Journalist Award, Journalist of Year Award in Ghana and the One World Media Awards (2012).

Three Anas documentaries – In the Interest of the State, Enemies of the Nation, and Orphans Home of Hell, are now available at the ReelAfrican site, and on the free, ad-supported Hulu and Hulu Plus subscription service. The Anas documentaries are the first major set of documentaries being featured from Ghana. This first installation will soon be followed by four other hard hitting undercover investigative documentaries - Deadly Gold, The President's Assignment, Madhouse and Dons of the Forest.

“Partnering with ReelAfrican brings me so much joy. This does not only push the frontiers of our viewership, but makes a case for meaningful partnerships. Together with ReelAfrican, we are building a great esprit de corps towards a better world” said Anas Aremeyaw Anas, CEO of Tiger Eye Investigations.

In “Enemies of the Nation” ” Anas opens the belly of the Tema Port Customs Excise & Preventive Service, exposing massive corruption there. In “In the interest of the State” Anas goes behind the scenes of the cocoa industry in Ghana uncovering the activities of a cocoa smuggling syndicate backed by some security personnel to rip the country off. And, in “Orphans Home of Hell”, Anas goes undercover as a Reverend Minister and a female philanthropist to chronicle instances of child abuse occurring at Ghana’s flagship child-care centre.

“We’re very proud to be working with Anas in bringing these fascinating and revealing documentaries to audiences in the US – Ghanaians and non-Ghanaians alike. We aim to bring some of the more recent documentaries to the screen aswell soon.” said Mr. Mallet, one of the co-founders of ReelAfrican.
