Ransford Osei rues 'bad luck' in career

Ghanaian striker Ransford Osei says he has failed to realize his huge potential because of ‘bad luck’.

The 21-year-old who now plays for Bloemfontein Celtic in the South African top flight burst onto the scene as a deadly finisher at the 2007 U-17 World Cup in South Korea where he emerged the second highest scorer with six goals.

He again proved his worth when he won the golden boot award at the African Youth Championships two years on after helping the Black Satellites win the trophy in Rwanda.

Osei however started loosing his spark at the U-20 World Cup in 2009 and moves to Isreal with Maccabi Haifa and FC Twente in the Dutch league did little in yielding positive results.

The once described lethal striker has since been unable to hit the highs that once made him the toast of many and now attributes his failure to sheer bad luck.

“I have learnt that there is a lot of good luck in the game of football,” he said.

“I started very well but things have not been quite good for me in recent times but it is life and I will never despair.

“My playmates like Agyemang-Badu are now playing for the Black Stars – where I should also be but God knows best and I really believe I will gain that form that brought me to the limelight in 2007.”
