President congratulates newly elected French Leader

President John Evans Atta Mills on Monday congratulated the newly elected French President, Francois Hollande.

“I have received the news of your election as Head of State of the Republic of France. I followed with keen interest your campaign for change in France and Europe, and I am happy that the people of France accepted your message and elected you to lead them.

“In this regard, I take the opportunity to extend my warmest congratulations and best wishes to you,” he said in a press statement issued in Accra and copied to the Ghana News Agency.

“I look forward to working closely with you to further enhance the very cordial relations and fruitful cooperation which exist between our two countries for the mutual benefit of our people.

“Accept… my best wishes for your good health and personal well-being for a successful tenure as President of the Republic of France,” the statement said.**
