EC asked to mop up voters’ registration in Nsuano/Bridgeso

The Electoral Commission (EC) has been asked to consider organizing a mop up at Nsuano/Bridgeso in the Jomoro District after the end of the biometric voters’ registration, in the area.

Mr William George Somiah, Jomoro Constituency National Democratic Congress Electoral Coordinator, who made the call, explained that the printer at the Nsuano/Bridgeso in Alabowale Electoral Area broke down on the seventh day of the first phase of the registration, resulting in its suspension for the remaining days.

He told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Half-Assini last Saturday that, “at the time the machine broke down, there was a long queue of prospective voters and if a mop up is not organized many people would be disenfranchise in Election 2012."

Mr Kwabena Asante, Jomoro District Electoral Officer, confirmed the story to the GNA and said he had reported the matter to the EC officials, and added that the faulty machine had been sent to the Western Regional Electoral Commission office for repairs.**
