Junior Chamber International President expected in Ghana soon

Mr Bertolt Daems, President of Junior Chamber International (JCI), is expected to visit Ghana from Thursday, April 12 to Saturday, April 14.

He would interact with young people and inspire them with the spirit of passion in solving problems in their communities.

In addition, it would enable him to identify and provide creative solutions to challenges, meet JCI members, business leaders and civil society to explain the JCI mission and values.

This was contained in a statement issued by Mr Sem Buamey, National President of JCI, and copied to Ghana News Agency in Accra.

It said facing many challenges, a critical mass of young active citizens were needed to provide solutions to global problems.

“In a highly interdependent world, it is the responsibility of JCI to engage young people to take the future of their communities, countries and the world at large in their own hands,” the statement said .

It said JCI empowered young people with the necessary tools, resources and opportunities to ensure change through target action.

The statement said, Mr Daems, would help members to translate their passion into concrete actions that would ultimately make the world a better place for all its citizens.

It said whiles in the country, Mr Daems would pay a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfo Osei Tutu II, Vice President John Dramani Mahama and corporate organisations to discuss problems encountered in the country.

He would also interact with the private sector on the United Nations Millennium Development Goals, UN Global Compact, and various sector ministries, to inspire the spirit of passion into action.

Mr Daems, elected by JCI in the Netherlands, was born in January 1973 in Nijmegen, the Netherlands.

He holds Master’s Degree in Building Construction and is Chief Executive Officer of a management consultancy company, RnR Group.

The company oversees large construction projects with focus on social enterprise initiatives, including education, healthcare, water and ecology, urbanisation, mobility, infrastructure, governance, safety and peace.

Mr Daems, works closely with Governments and citizens to ensure successful triple bottom line; people, profit and planet.

Mr Daems joined JCI in November 2003, and was one of the founders of his JCI local organisation, JCI Mariken, which was formally recognised in January 2004 when he became local Vice President.

He served as local president in 2005 and Secretary General of JCI in the Netherlands in 2006.

In 2007, Mr Daems became Executive Vice President of Growth and Development of JCI in the Netherlands, and served on the Board of 2007 JCI European Conference in Maastricht, in the Netherlands.**
