Chief urges people to register in biometric voters' registration

Togbe Anatsi V, chief of Torve, in the Akatsi District in the Volta Region, has advised the people to register massively in the on-going biometric voters' registration, to enable them to vote in Election 2012.

He asked them to report any person who would urge prospective voters to abstain from the registration exercise, to the authorities.

Togbe Anatsi, was addressing the people at the Easter durbar to mark the 20th Torve Dunenyo Za (Festival), held to mobilize resources for the development of the area, at the weekend.

He also cautioned to people who allegedly were convincing others not to participate in the electoral process because they would not benefit from governance, to stop the unpatriotic act.

He said, every government was expected to provide the people with schools, hospitals, water, electricity, roads and other amenities, but "no government would put physical cash in the pockets of individuals."

Togbe Ahordzi IV, a sub chief of Torve, called on the people to unite for the development of the area.

Miss Norvisi Edor, an opinion leader of Torve, appealed to Government to extend water and electricity supply to all the communities and rehabilitate the basic school in the town.

Mr James Gunu, a businessman and citizen of Torve, advised the Easter Durbar and Community Development Committee of the town, to ensure transparency and accountability in the management of funds, to motivate the people to contribute to development projects.**
