I’m Battle Ready For 2012, Bawumia Assures NPP

The vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Mahamudu Bawumia, has commended the leadership and rank and file of the party for the unity prevailing in the party.

According to him, the current unity in the party sends out a strong indication that the NPP is fully resolved to recapture power in the December 12 polls.

Dr Bawumia was addressing a meeting of NPP gurus at the party head office Monday. In attendance was the flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, National Chairman, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, all National Officers and the Campaign Manager for the 2012 Elections, Boakye Agyarko.

That was his first official interaction with party officers after his nomination and subsequent unanimous approval by the National Council of the NPP as the party’s running mate for the 2012 election.

Dr Bawumia who arrived at the party’s Asylum Down Head Office to loud cheers from party faithful took time to fraternize with the supporters gathered, as well as the staff at the office, before proceeding to meet the National Officers.

He told the meeting he was battle ready for the 2012 electioneering campaign, adding that he would do everything humanly possible to ensure that the party emerges victorious in the December 2012 polls.

He noted, however, that securing that much needed electoral victory would require the commitment and utmost dedication of all party members.

He assured the National Officers, as well as the entire members of the party, that he was fully prepared to work closely with the party structures.

He further pledged to contribute his quota towards building a stronger, more vibrant and more capable party from the polling station to the national level.

He indicated that he would always have an open door policy in all his dealings with all party members, stressing: “I have no biases and I’m very willing to work with everybody in the party.”

Dr Bawumia used the opportunity to thank the flagbearer and party leadership for keeping faith with him and for overwhelmingly endorsing his nomination as the vice presidential candidate.

The renowned economist and banker praised the leadership of the party for successfully supervising the implementation of various reforms in the party since the 2008 elections.

He added that the reforms had made the party stronger and further put it in a better shape for the 2012 elections, and governance when elected.

He also commended the party’s communication team for ensuring that the NDC had been kept on the back foot on various policy issues and for exposing the incompetence that had characterized the Mills-Mahama led administration.
