England

In the Premier League, Michael Essien replaced Raul Meireles in the 59th minute as Chelsea lost 1-2 to Manchester City.

In the Championship, Prince Buaben played the full match as Watford beat Bristol City, for whom Albert Adomah also played the full match, 2-0.

Jeffrey Schlupp replaced David Nugent in the 88th minute as Leicester City drew 3-3 with Blackpool.

In League One, Lloyd Sam played the full match as Notts County lost 2-5 to Sheffield United.

Spain

In La Liga, Mubarak Wakaso was an unused substitute as Villareal drew 1-1 with Real Madrid.

Italy

In the Coppa italia, Sulley Muntari was booked in the 16th minute and played the full match as AC Milan drew 2-2 with Juventus. Juventus thus qualified for the final on a 4-3 aggregate.

France

In the Coupe de France, Jordan Ayew played the full match and elder brother Andre Ayew replaced Charles Kabore at half time as Marseille lost 2-3 after extra time to third tier side Quevilly in the quarterfinal.
