NDC's biggest achievement is eliminating schools under trees- NPP

Deputy Communications Director of opposition New Patriotic Party has taken a swipe at the ruling NDC Government for its incessant reliance on contracting loans from developed countries for national projects instead of raising funds internally.

Perry Okudzeto Ablakwa in an interview with Xfm 95.1 decried the need for government to source funds from outside even to eliminate schools under trees; however adding, ³and yet, this government is the one that has been able to cough out up to 580 billion old cedis to one individual who is a so-called financier of their party².

³You have a government that says that it doesn¹t have money to do anything. When the former government initiated the construction of some major roads, and generated funds from internal resources to build this road up to about 60%, and this government was supposed to complete those projects, they told us it was absurd for any government to try to raise money internally to finance such projects, and that they were going to raise money from loans to complete these roads².

³When it comes to raising money to build toilets, market, roads etc, and to put food on the table for the Ghanaian, the government doesn¹t have money. It has to go to China to collect 3billion².

³Even common classroom blocks that we are building today, that we used to build from the coffers of GETFUND, today, this government has to collect a loan by all means before they are able to construct anything in this country² he bemoaned.

According to him, President John Mills has been going round commissioning projects put up by Non Governmental Organizations and deceiving the whole world they are achievements of the NDC.

He reiterated the NPP¹s undying urge of getting Ghanaians to vote out the NDC in 2012, whose biggest achievement he said, has been to eliminate schools under trees.

³Boreholes that are being built in this country are being built by NGO¹s in the country and the president goes parading and commissioning them that he has fulfilled his promises. Is this the kind of government we want in the 21¹st century; when people are thinking out of the box and are doing big things for their nations?²

³In this day and age when 18 year olds are able to build multi national empires like fb google, etc, we are praising ourselves for eliminating schools under trees. That is the biggest achievement of this administration².
