Don’t Fall To Empty Promises - Prez Mills

“You Will Know Them by Their Fruits - Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves”, Matthew 7: 15-16” Quoted above from the Good Book must be what informs His Excellency Professor John Evans Atta Mills, to alert Ghanaians to be wary of people who promise them heaven but do not have what it takes to take them there.

President Atta Mills, disembarking aboard a Delta Airlines jet threw the caution on his arrival Saturday, from the United States of America, after his month-long stay outside Ghana.

Addressing the teaming National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters all clad in party colours, as well as a section of the general public who thronged the Kotoka International Airport to welcome him back home, President John Evans Mills recommends that Ghanaians be vigilant so as not to fall prey to people’s, particularly, politicians pranks. He told Ghanaians that, people will come to them with sweet words as they solicit for their vote and support to make promises, when in earnest, they are not in the position to deliver.

“In fact, they will end up building castles in the air when in reality those castles do not exit “, the President indicated, and calls on Ghanaians not to worry themselves to book for a place in those castles, since they cannot stand the test of time; and are completely non-existent.

The Ghana’s president also uses the opportunity to reaffirm his government’s commitment to building a Better Ghana for his people, saying, with God on its side, the government will work very hard with the resources at its disposal to ensure that Mother Ghana becomes a better place for all to live.

“We are on course; and the evidence of our good work abounds everywhere, and I am very confident that come December 2012, Ghanaians will renew our mandate to continue with our good work”, the President added.

President Mills, however, debunks allegations that he had gone to Cuba for medical attention, as reported by some opposition newspapers, and said he travelled for a good purpose, and that Ghanaians will soon see the result. He also used the opportunity to appeal to members of the NDC family to remain united and focused, so they can collectively work towards victory in the December 2012 general elections

He expressed his heartfelt appreciation to his Vice, H E John Dramani Mahama, commending him for holding the fort and perfectly managing affairs of the State whiles he was away, adding that, they will work as a team to deliver on their Better Ghana promises.

Present at the tarmac to welcome the President and his entourage were, the Chief of Presidential Staff, Mr. Mantey Newman, the National Security Coordinator, Lt. Col. Larry Gbevlo-Lartey, the Hon. Defence Minister, General Joseph Henry Smith, Ministers of State and some heads of security agencies.

It would be recalled, that, the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Mr. Williams Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo in his desperation to win support of Ghanaians, when touring the country made countless fake promises to the people, i.e. making secondary education free, when he knows deep down his heart that, it can not be possible.

For political expediency and to score cheap political points, the NPP flagbearer, is fast gaining notoriety for making empty and unachievable promises to Ghanaians.

Perhaps, Nana Akufo-Addo must take the President’s message very serious and refrain from his lies of promising Ghanaians heaven which he knows he cannot deliver.
