Gomoa West Ready To Give Prez Mills A Rousing Welcome-MP

Following the massive upspring of development projects that the Gomoa West in the
central region has witnessed over the last three years, Hon. Francis Kojo Arthur,
Member of Parliament for area said his people are ready to welcome President John
Evans Atta Mills to the area for his next official nationwide touring shoulders
high.
He told the Crystal Clear Lens in an exclusive interview that the president next
point of call as part of his nation wide touring after the Greater Accra Region to
confirm that the ‘Better Ghana Agenda’ couple with ‘Action Year’ was in progress
would hit his area, the Gomoa West soon and that massive infrastructural development
in the region would marvel the president.
The Member of Parliament said he used the recess of parliament to join his
constituents to celebrate their Akwanbo and Ahobea festivals and had also organised
forums at which he explained to participants government policies and programmes as
well as some important issues from parliament.
Hon. Arthur said he had initiate plans to build a dam on River Ochie between Gomoa
Maim and Essarkyir to provide potable water to communities adding that the roads in
the town would be improved and appealed to Ghanaians to exercise patience for the
government and that it is implementing programmes to fulfil its “Better Ghana”
agenda.
He told the paper that all the 98 communities in Gomoa West District now have
electricity which he said was unprecedented in the history of the region noting that
when he was elected as MP, 15 communities were not connected to electricity but with
the help of the government he had been able to connect all to the national
electricity grid.
Hon. Arthur said six unit classroom blocks financed by the GETFund had been provided
for Gomoa Ajumako, Dawurampong, Okwawu and Gomoa Eshiem to improve the quality of
education among school children.
He said he had also provided polytanks to some communities where water supply had
been irregular and street bulbs to Dago, Adaa, Fomena, Anyanful, Achiase and
Olefleku.
The MP continued that he had donated some bags of cement to the people of Onyaadze
to rehabilitate their market and appealed to the people of the area to be patient
with the government as it mobilizes funds for reconstruction of the Apam/Afranse
road.
He said though the contract had been awarded some months ago, the contractor had not
moved to site because the government wanted to be sure the project would not come to
a standstill for lack of funds.
He noted the Oguaa/ Odina electoral area in the Gomoa West District will soon have
an ultra modern market to boost economic activities in the area. The facility, a
self help project which is currently at the lintel level is expected to be completed
very soon due to the support being given to the project by the community members.
Hon. Arthur further revealed that a 6-unit classroom block including a toilet and
office facility is also almost completed would soon be commissioned to improve the
standard of education in the areas.
It could recalled that the president earlier this year undertook a nationwide tour
to inspect projects initiated and completed by the various assemblies as part of the
much taunted “Better Ghana Agender” which he introduced upon assuming office.
The president, commitment to other duties could not tour the central region hence
the intended visit later this year.
He will be expected to visit and inspect both completed and on-going projects at
various project sites.
